Week 22: Christie's Workshop

Hello everyone,

So Rylie has been moving all over the place. I think she's building something in there.... Oh, maybe she is using all those fruits and vegetables to build us a present! And now she has a spaghetti squash to add to her materials.
I decided to download all the pictures of the fruits and veggies and Photoshop a quarter into each picture for purposes of comparison... I did this just for you, my readers! If any of you ever visit BabyCenter.com, they have a gallery of fruits and vegetables that looks strikingly similar to the ones I have put together... It may or may not be a coincidence, I'm just sayin'.

Ok, so maybe she's not building anything, but she's at least trying to move some furniture around cause she's active A LOT lately...

Christie is getting bigger by the week, and Addie (our first daughter), is beginning to get used the idea of a sister. We know this because she has started using Mommy's tummy as a pillow. Addie also likes to jump into the middle of Christie's Snoogle when she gets up to use the restroom (which happens roughly 4 - 6 times per night... or at least it seems that way to me and Addie.)

Here is an obligatory picture of our little Addie for a reference:

Week 13: Shrimp and Peas

Hello,

So Christie hasn't been sleeping well at all lately and is more tired than usual. This makes me feel helpless a lot. The Snoogle isn't helping much (even though I'm not sure that's what is was intended for anyway. I'm pretty sure it's just a "comfortable" way to keep her from rolling onto her back later on (this restricts blood flow to the baby.) Other than that Christie is feeling good. No weird cravings, however, she went on an olive and pickle binge for a while (just pickles no ice cream combo... Yet)

Baby is about the size of a medium shrimp and if it's a girl, she already has over 2,000,000 eggs (which is crazy to me... don't know why, but I can't seem to get my head around that idea.) Baby now has finger prints, so from this day until they turn 18, it is our job to make sure that they never become a part of any Police Database anywhere! Ever! After that, I guess we just hope... But I might be getting ahead of myself.

We are in the planning process of turning our "OSU shrine" room/office into the guest room (don't worry, it'll still be OSU style!) and our guest room into the baby room. Everything but paint color has been decided (we'll find out in early March, so vote if you want... Only a little over a month left to do so. By the way, it's at about 51% Boy and I think that is wrong... I don't care what it is, but I have a strange feeling it's gonna have eggs, but more on that later)

We also recently got a Fetal Doppler so that we can hear Baby's heartbeat any time we want! Pretty cool stuff. We can even record it on the computer... so, maybe, one day, I'll record it and put it on here. It'll probably be in a few months when the heartbeat is louder... It's a little hard to hear right now. That's probably because its only the size of a medium shrimp, so imagine how big that little heart is... maybe the size of a english pea?

Week 12: Ballet, Chameleons, and a New Pillow (Updated)

Greetings,
So apparently Baby is gaining reflexes this week... hard to believe since its only the size of a lime (I think more like a small lime rather than a big lime... I think its only 2") It's eyes are now in front of its head, where they should be. They used to be on the side of its head like an chameleon... I forgot to mention this earlier, but its true. Baby's toes can curl and its fingers can move. It can lightly kick, also. Basically it is preparing to do ballet in Christie's womb, which is cool and disturbing at the same time.

We are now the proud owners of a "Snoogie". What is a Snoogie, you ask? Well, a Snoogie is a long pillow shaped like a handicapped "S" that Christie sleeps with and helps with 2 things:
  1. It keeps her from rolling on her back, which restricts blood flow to the baby. Baby - Bloodflow = Bad!
  2. It helps Christie sleep more comfortably. Christie + Sleep = Good!

Update: The "Snoogie" is actually a "Snoogle"  I misread the package when I glanced at it... This mistake was brought to my attention by Virginia! Thanks Pal!

We also officially own 4 books on babies, yet only possess 2 of them. We got one when we went for our first "baby doctor" visit. (It was given to us by the Cord Blood Registry... How nice of them!) Then we ordered 3 others that the doctor recommended from Barnes & Noble. However, ya see, B&N sent us 1 book on pregnancy.... and two other titles: "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Self-Sufficient Living" (as in, how to grow/farm/raise everything you could ever need to live) and "How to Grow More Vegetables" (as in, how to grow more vegetables.) Imagine our surprise when we got these instead of "On Becoming Baby Wise" and "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer"... However, they were surprisingly good reads and we now own 5 Chickens and have corn growing in the back yard! (Just kidding...)

The comments have been lacking, so I'm not sure people even read this... but until next time,

    D&C... and Baby
